Oh, Canada!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Finally, my Canuck relatives can experience what I’ve been writing about!

In the next few weeks, Sony will launch the Bravia Internet Video Link (BIVL) in Canada.  Like the U.S. version, the Canadian BIVL will have original Web video, along with plenty of useful Yahoo! features.

BIVL enhancements available in the Great White North, include access to user-created videos in French, and the ability to check the major financial markets and personal stock portfolios-right on the TV. The folks up north will also get local news, and weather information - just in time for the autumn chill and winter frost.

Our friends and family in Canada will be able to get the Sony BIVL in all major retail stores and of course, online.

Movie Showtimes Made Easy

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

If your household is anything like mine, it’s always difficult to agree on what movie to see.

In the past, my roommates and I would have to crowd around my laptop, as we looked for start times and reviews.  I’d have to keep rotating my computer so they could see the different web site pages.  This system was less than ideal, especially when our movie search took a lot of clicks.

Call me lazy, but I find it so much easier to stay in my living room and look up showtimes on my widescreen TV.  Not only that, but my roommates and I can also read movie synopses, Yahoo! user reviews, and cast information- without having to crouch around a small screen.  Better yet, the service remembers our location, so we don’t have to type in a theater preference every time we start a session.

All of this is avilable on AT&T Homezone.  No crouching or laptop twirling necessary.

LAUNCHcast radio, movie showtimes, and more cool features from Yahoo!. Now, if only Yahoo! could do my laundry…..

LAUNCHcast on AT&T Homezone

Dust Off Your Dancing Shoes!

Music was meant to be heard on your entertainment system, not on your computer.  AT&T’s Homezone service gives you access to a lot of Yahoo! services;  My favorite one is the LAUNCHcast radio service.

Ever since LAUNCHcast was launched (no pun intended) on Yahoo! Music, I’ve been going there everyday to listen to My Customized Radio Station or one of the other channels, like Adult Alternative.

Having LAUNCHcast available on my TV is really convenient especially when I’m throwing a party at home or just want to lie down on the sofa. The LAUNCHcast service on AT&T Homezone is easy to use. It’s all designed with the television remote in mind and is accessible through the main menu bar.

Oh yeah, and there are no commercials and no annoying DJs to put a damper on your listening experience.

Now get off your computer, turn on your TV and let’s boogie!

Football Is Finally Here and Yahoo! Has You covered!

Yahoo! Sports for TV

Football season is finally here. And that means the start of a new fantasy football league season.

Yes, I know you’ve already heard about the MLB version of Yahoo! Sports for TV but now the football version is out! What’s really great about it is that you can actually track your fantasy leagues while you watchTV!

If you have Windows XP or Vista Media Center Edition you can get the football and baseball versions of Yahoo! Sports for TV.  Not only that but the service is free!

Every year, our group creates a fantasy league and of course feverishly tracks it during the, ahem work day.  This year is no exception.  Needless to say I expect to be victorious.

While I’m watching a game, I can see multiple game stats and keep track of how I’m doing,  in relation to my coworkers.

So sign up for a league, turn on your TV and watch the latest game.

The Wonders of Remote Scheduling!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Well summer’s over and Labor Day weekend has officially passed.

With the arrival of fall comes Football (which I’ll write about in my next post) and of course the new television lineup.

I get so caught up in my work sometimes that I forget to schedule a recording I want on my personal video recorder.  That’s where Yahoo! Web Remote on AT&T Homezone comes into play (click here for more information).

In the past, I’d either have to rush home or make a frantic call in hope of getting one of my roommates to set the DVR for me.

Now, with a heck of a lot less stress, I can browse program listings and schedule recordings using any Internet-enabled web browser —even my mobile phone’s WAP 2.0 compliant web browser.

So, I say “bring on the fall shows, because I’m ready to watch them!”
